Old Style
Old Style
My earlier watercolours are characterised by a more realistic and detailed approach to landscape painting. I focused on capturing the atmosphere of a place, the structure of the landscape and the natural colours of mountains, fields, lakes and coastlines.
These works represent an earlier stage of my painting and reflect my interest in a more traditional, representational style. They are quieter and more precise in their depiction, while still leaving room for the characteristic transparency and spontaneity of watercolour.
I have grouped these paintings under Old Style as a collection of works from an earlier period of my artistic development.
Here are a few selected examples from this category. You can find more paintings in the Gallery, where the different categories can be selected to explore the collection.
